What Is VoIP ? - Part 2

Cheap calls are achieved with a VoIP provider such as Engin, Freshtel, etc etc. Most of the real smarts are achieved by VoIP phone systems. You don’t have to get one to get the other.

The quality of VoIP calls has come along in leaps and bounds. Home VoIP can still be pretty crap and is not recommended for business but the improvements in broadband speed over the past few years has resulted in VoIP calls that are toll grade. You would have to have superman’s hearing to tell the difference when VoIP is done properly.

The biggest mistake we save clients making is spending money where it’s not necessary. Yes you save money with cheaper phone calls but to do a voip phone system can add $1000’s to the system costs. If you are trying to do it to save money then it’s a lot of calls before you break even.

Let me explain. A business has 2 sites and wants VoIP for free calls between them. To do that with a VoIP phone system will cost a couple of $1000. If you only made 5-10 calls a day it would take you 10 years to break even.

That said, imagine if you only needed one receptionist for 2 sites? You’ve just saved $30,000+ and the solution has paid for itself many times over from day one!
